The Residences at 400 Central to Top Out Florida’s West Coast In Luxury

The heart of St. Petersburg is getting ready to reach higher. The Residences at 400 Central are under construction and are anticipated to be the tallest residential building on Florida’s West Coast. The 46-story mixed-use luxury tower is in the first stage of foundation construction by Suffolk Construction Company. An iconic new landmark in the heart of downtown, 400 Central will soar 515 feet above the city’s vibrant Central Avenue, cementing it as the tallest building in Pinellas County.

It is all in the details for The Residences at 400 Central. Consisting of designer condominiums across, the open-concept floor plans highlight energy-efficient living by way of progressive design and planning. Light filled interiors make way for expansive glass walls that lead to spacious wrap around terraces. Designer finishes, chef’s kitchens, and spa bathrooms ensure that every detail sparkles in the sunshine.

The private amenity deck will boast thoughtfully composed interior and exterior spaces perfect for intimate sunset gatherings or large-scale entertaining set in the height of luxury.

400 Central also is bringing the next level of amenities to the Sunshine City. A dedicated lifestyle coordinator will oversee 35,000-plus square feet of interior and exterior amenities. The 7th floor’s expansive, resort-style amenity deck includes a luxurious heated pool and spa surrounded by a stylish cabana lounge space and zen garden. Residents can entertain poolside with the outdoor dining space, barbecue grills, bocce ball court and firepits. Designed for an active lifestyle, the indoor-outdoor, professional-grade fitness center will offer state-of-the-art exercise equipment, free weights, flex rooms, filtered water stations, and a designated dog walk.

Residents will be able to host a celebratory dinner in the private dining room and bar featuring an adjacent catering kitchen. Plus, they can watch the big game or plan a movie night; the theater room is designed for optimal viewing with a surround-sound theater. There is also a game room with card tables, a grand fireplace, and a pool table. In today’s society that values work-from-home amenities, both a private working space and a boardroom are available for use.

Residents will arrive at 400 Central in style, welcomed by an on-site valet before entering the elegantly appointed lobby with a 24/7 front desk reception. Their private lobby also affords residents privileged access to the ground-floor restaurants, galleries, and shops anchoring this iconic tower. John Catsimatidis’ love of St. Pete is clearly evident in his dynamic vision for The Residences at 400 Central. A landmark live-work-play destination rising on Central Avenue, 400 Central is designed to honor the coastal, charming city that the Catsimatidis family fell in love with more than 30 years ago. Construction has begun and land preparations are underway on the cornerstone project, conceptualized to add a thoughtful destination to the fundamentally alluring neighborhood of downtown St. Petersburg. Combining internationally celebrated architectural design with optimal location, pristine residences, luxury amenities, and unrivaled gulf-to-bay views, 400 Central will rise above the rest.

The city of St. Petersburg is top of mind for the team working to bring 400 Central to life. Paying homage to the personality and culture of the Sunshine City, John Catsimatidis Sr., founder of Red Apple Real Estate, made it a point to smoothly incorporate the fresh with the historic. He started by repairing and preserving the classic McClintock pedestal clock that has stood for years at the corner of Central Avenue and Fifth Street.

“We look at this clock and see reflections of the charm and character of downtown St. Pete’s wonderful sidewalks and avenues,” Catsimatidis Sr. says. “We are making sure to bring in experts with vast experience so this clock can stand again in a special place beside the future tower.”

Along with the preserved piece of St. Petersburg’s history, the 400 Central’s ground floor will feature a carefully curated selection of high-end retail and entertainment creating a true destination downstairs. At ground level, the building features 60,000 square feet of retail space and upwards of 40,000 square feet of office space. The retail will be carefully curated to include a selection of boutique shopping, flavorful dining, art galleries, and eclectic entertainment that adds to the eclectic character of Central Avenue. 400 Central will highlight the glittering Gulf Coast city of St. Petersburg from sidewalk to skyline.

Enlisting the talents of world-renowned architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia — principal of the esteemed Arquitectonica —  who was deeply inspired by the city on the water, the team sought to honor what makes St. Pete unique.

“When you look from the sky at this region of St. Petersburg, all you see is the way land meets water,” Fort-Brescia shares. “Drawing inspiration from the marine surroundings, the rounded form of the building ensures it will never meet the sky with a hard edge, blending seamlessly and changing with the sun throughout the day, adding a dynamic display of light and shadow to the skyline of St. Petersburg.”

400 Central will affix St. Petersburg to an extensive and impressive list of metropolitan cities around the globe that are punctuated by Arquitectonica’s expressive modernist designs.
