While the temps are dropping, it’s still warm enough to get out and enjoy local festivities, from a fair, to art in the streets to a maze that will keep you occupied for hours, there’s tons to do. Read on to find out where you need to be when the long weekend rolls around.

Annual Dahlia Festival

A Rainbow of Color! Stroll through almost 40 acres of stunning dahlias featuring over 370 dahlia varieties. Fields open August-September each year. The Annual Dahlia Festival is a rainbow of color and blooms for every flower lover. The indoor pavilions are closed for safety this year, but outside the fields burst with botanical fireworks — over 370 varieties! Storytime & Craft at the cjo;d  Library

Pick up a grab and go storytime craft bag and then join for some online storytime fun! Watch new videos each week on the library’s Facebook page or YouTube channel. Bags available outside the front door while supplies last. Craft for ages 5 and under. Event Details.

Art in the Pearl

Art In The Pearl® is a wonderful community event. Over one hundred artists show and sell work ranging from fine wooden furniture to beautiful paintings to photography, glass, clay, metal, jewelry, and much more! Event Details.

Crawfish and Cornhole

Enjoy a summer evening filled with music, crawfish, cornhole, drinks, and more in the Wedding Garden at the Resort! Event Details.

The Maize at the Pumpkin Patch

Get a jump start on fall fun (and maybe beat some fall crowds) and check out the corn maze at Sauvie Island Pumpkin Patch! This epic maze winds through almost two miles of corn and is great for all ages. Bring snacks: it can take up to 45 minutes to get through! Event Details.

The Oregon State Fair

The Oregon State Fair is a Portland family favorite. Eleven days filled with livestock competitions, cook-offs, six stages of live music, dog shows, and plenty of baby animals. Don’t forget the rides and games. Get ready for a dizzying good time. Event Details.

Friday Movie – The Parent Trap (1961) Event 

Two is better than one! Go back in time with this family favorite and watch the original 1961 version of The Parent Trap on the big screen under the stars. Join us for our Movies on the Deck on Friday nights in August. The movie will start just after dusk, so bundle up or bring a blanket.
