IMSH 2022: What You Need to Know

Each year the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSiH) hosts the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) to provide an opportunity for healthcare simulation champions from around the world to come together. Here, they are able to network with peers, learn from experts, and experience the latest medical simulators. Despite COVID-19 having impacted the ability for many to gather over the past two years, IMSH 2022 remains a hybrid event as planned, taking place in person and virtually from January 15 to January 19, 2022, in Los Angeles, California at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Focused on the ability to reunite and connect simulationists worldwide, this year’s event will provide the tools and resources healthcare professionals need to advance their skills. The meeting will also present ways to impact change in delivery systems and practice, and, ultimately, to improve patient safety. Further, a maximum of 25 continuing education hours may be earned at IMSH 2022.

According to the IMSH Planning Committee, between in-person and virtual (IMSH Delivers), IMSH will again offer hundreds of industry-leading and shaping presentations. The goal is to cement the event's place as the world's premier healthcare simulation education learning event.

Important Information

COVID-19 Guidelines: According to The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), the organization has been continually monitoring the health and safety guidelines posted by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as state, Los Angeles County, and Los Angeles city authorities in California. Requirements have changed recently for the county of Los Angeles. SSH notes that these requirements may change again between now and IMSH 2022. Per the current county ordinance:

  • Masks ARE REQUIRED in any indoor setting.
  • Full vaccination OR a negative test performed within 24 hours (antigen test) OR within 48 hours (PCR test) of entry ARE REQUIRED for indoor events, dining, bars, gyms, etc.

CLICK HERE for full information regarding IMSH 2022 and COVID-19 vaccine and mask requirements.

Claim IPCE Credit: To claim IPCE credit, clinical simulation professionals and learners must complete a presentation evaluation for all sessions attended. They will receive an email with instructions on how to complete their online evaluations. Those who do not receive the link to the evaluations should contact education@ssih.org. Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) Certificate details:

  • Participants will receive IPCEs for each course they have attended or viewed during IMSH. The collection of recorded sessions that will be available to them for IMSH 2022 will be live until December 31, 2022. They will however be able to download their IPCE credits to date at any time.
  • Before accessing your IPCE certificate, SSH asks that participants complete an evaluation form for each session attended to help the organization better understand how they will use information learned in their work. The data collected through these questions are used to improve future programming and provide more of the educational topics they need to improve practice.
  • They will be emailed a personalized link to access their transcript, complete their evaluation forms and print their certificates.
  • For questions regarding the administration of IPCE credit, contact education@ssih.org.

More About IMSH

The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) hosts IMSH annually and offers over 250 sessions encompassing interactive and immersive courses and plenary sessions. The IMSH meeting is aligned with the SSH’s mission to “provide hands-on learning in leading-edge medical simulation trends and technology, networking and collaboration.” Furthermore, the programs are all peer-reviewed and are selected to serve the needs of novices to experts.

“Every year, professionals from all experience levels and from more than 50 countries attend IMSH,” Kathy Adams, Director of Continuing Education, SSH, said. “Any professional interested in or currently working in healthcare simulation will find value in the healthcare simulation conference; the range of learning formats — from small, interactive workshops, to large, inspiring plenaries – and the breadth of topics presented by global experts ensures that there is something for every learning style, interest and experience level.”

At IMSH meetings, key areas of discussion are often new ideas, leadership development, new processes, and research findings, innovative approaches, design strategies, return on investment, and improved communication techniques. As a catalyst for advancement and evolution in healthcare simulation technology, the IMSH brings together and connects industry professionals to learn. The event is considered to be one of the top educational and networking events for the healthcare simulation world, especially for those with interests in IPE.
