This Cape Cod beach house tour is full of views of the ocean and pops of color. If you need a little summer today, this is the tour for you.
I just redecorated this back deck with a brightly colored rug, a conversation set and flowers. Take the tour and see this mini back deck refresh.
I’m back home now.
It was a whirlwind trip to the Cape and the beach and Newport, RI.
But all good things must come to an end.
Two days ago we headed home and traded in the Atlantic Ocean for the Lone Star state. My mother had surgery yesterday, so we needed to be here to take care of her (everything went smoothly and she’s coming home from the hospital today).
But I couldn’t leave the Cape without one last tour.
Wait until you see this.
This Cape Cod beach house TOUR.
I helped my cousin decorate her back deck to get it ready for summer.
So here’s a tour of the porch and her beautiful home.
Cape Cod Beach House Tour
Her home is just down the street from our family’s.
It’s full of family heirlooms and pieces she’s picked up over the years and little bits of whimsy
And the amazing thing?
She is even more incredible than this beautiful home.
The house overlooks the sea and you can hear the ocean rolling just outside the back door.
The gardens are full of flower beds and ocean breezes.
Here’s a look inside.
It’s almost as pretty as the ocean view.
I still remember the first time I saw this house.
I knocked on the door and walked inside and smelled the sea breezes that were filling the rooms and smelled the ocean through the open window and….
….I literally started dancing with joy.
Not that it was a fancy dance or anything.
It was a cross between the hula and macarena….
…..sprinkled with extra excitement.
And in the middle of all that dancing…..
….I told my cousin.
1. This was my favorite house in the universe.
2. I was so thankful she was letting me share it with all of you.
and
3. I was moving in.
There are so many amazing details.
Did you see the ladder?
Did you sigh?
Me, too.
I LOVE this game piece artwork that she found.
It brings a pop of color into the room.
This is such a great way to introduce color. The space is relatively neutral—the walls, the couch, the wood floors.
Then you can bring in the color with artwork, pillows and a striped rug.
The rooms upstairs overlook the ocean.
They are decorated in blue and white with vintage accents.
See what I mean about moving in.
And now?
Want to see what I did on the back porch?
I gave it a mini makeover.
It all started when I found this rug.
If you look at the rest of my cousin’s house, she decorates her beautiful classic interiors with pops of color. For example, she doesn’t have curtains at most of her windows, instead letting the outside view frame and decorate the space.
And this back deck is no exception.
It has two-story windows that reflect the ocean as a backdrop.
When I found the rug I knew it would be the perfect foundation of color. It’s an indoor outdoor rug with layers of blue and black and coral. The colors are pretty true to the picture and it comes in tons of different sizes.
Next, I found this bistro set with two chairs and a table.
It’s perfect for coffee in the morning.
Then, I added in these yellow pillows with tassels.
One for each chair.
The pillows come in green and blue, too (it was a hard choice which ones to pick).
Lastly, I found a few baskets of colorful flowers, a little snack for a sunny afternoon and these lanterns.
They are the perfect addition to any porch or patio.
There’s a battery-operated candle in the center of the lantern that you can switch on for extra ambiance.
It was an amazing trip Cape Cod.
You are a rock star.
I’ll be back to see you later.
And please save me a seat right here.
